Backing up a volume
Catalyst Prepare allows you to create verified backups of your discs and cards. A backup is an exact replica of the original storage media — with all files and volume structure — backed up for long-term safety and storage.
-
Click the Organize button at the top of the Catalyst Prepare window.
The Places pane on the left side of the Catalyst Prepare window displays a list of the available volumes.
-
Select a volume in the Places pane.
-
Click the Back Up Source button at the bottom of the Places pane.
-
The Destination folder box displays the path to the parent folder where the backup will be created. You can type a path in the box or click the Browse button to choose a folder.
-
The Subfolder box displays the name of the folder where the backup will be created.
-
Choose a setting from the Verification mode drop-down list to choose the method (MD5, SHA1, CRC32, or xxHash64) that will be used to verify your backup file, or choose None to skip verification.
- Click OK to start the backup.
