I have some Sonic Foundry branded software. It refuses to activate using the "register online" and "register from another computer" options. How do I fix this?
Why should I register my product?
Registration makes you eligible for upgrades, special offer notifications and a variety of support options. Registration also guarantees we will have your serial number on file so we can help if you lose it.
I've lost my serial number, what can I do?

What is an activation or authentication code?
An activation or authentication code is used to fully enable your Sony Creative Software product. Your activation or authentication code is generated using your serial number, which always remains the same, and your unique Computer or Machine ID.
Serial number + Computer/Machine ID = Activation/Authentication Code When do I need a new activation or authentication code?
You will need to obtain a new activation or authentication code if you install a new version of the Windows Operating System, change the lettering of your hard drives, adding or removing hardware, install the application on a new computer, or reinstall Windows after a system crash.
Do I need an activation code?
Some of our current applications do not require an activation code when installed from CD . If you have purchased a downloadable product and/or you see a message stating that the program will time out after a certain number of days, you will need to obtain an activation code to fully enable your software.
Note: Many purchases of downloadable products made via our web site will automatically register the software and send you an activation code. If you do not see a message that your program is going to time out, you do not need to activate your software. What is an Optional Authentication Code?
An optional authentication code is included with the serial number on the insert found in boxed product. If you purchase a downloadable application, you will not need or receive an optional authentication code.
Entering this code allows you to use the software for a period of time without needing to register it. You can always choose to register your application right away, and then you will not need to enter the optional authentication code at all. If I register online using the Registration Form, how long will it take to receive my activation or authentication code via email?
Once you have successfully submitted your registration information, our system automatically sends an activation or authentication code to the email address you provided.
Why do I have to register the MP3 or MPEG plug-in separately from my Sony Creative Software product?
We license the use of the MP3 and MPEG plug-ins from the manufacturers. To fulfill our licensing agreements with these organizations, we must accurately keep track of the number of registered users for royalty purposes.
The computer where I've installed my Sony Creative Software application is not connected to the Internet. How do I get an activation or authentication code?
How can I obtain an activation or authentication code if my application's registration process fails?
When I try to register online from within the application, I get an error message that reads: "Invalid User ID." How can I fix this so I can register my software?

I tried to register online but I didn't receive my activation codes via email. What happened?
Some of the boxed versions of our software do not require an activation code. If your application does not display an expiration date upon start-up, you do not require an activation code. It is also possible that you may have mistyped your email address in the registration form. Please verify the accuracy of your email address and resubmit.
Why does the application keep asking me to register even though I've entered my activation or authentication code? I'm running on Windows 2000.
To use our software under Windows 2000, you must install and register it while logged in with an Administrator account. If users who do not have administrative rights use your computer, it is important that you copy the .reg file that was sent to you via email to your desktop. As each user logs on for the first time, have them run this .reg file. This will allow them access to the application.
What does the error message "Too many activation codes" mean?
"Too many activation codes" means that your product has been registered several times. Often, this is simply the result of a PC that continually fails and must be reformatted, requiring our software to be reinstalled. To resolve this, please contact Sony Creative Software Customer Service via our support site at /custcenter/home.
What does the error message “The server was unable to complete the registration as requested. [Error: XX]” mean?
In the above error message, XX is the error number encountered. You should take that error number and see if there is a Knowledgebase Article on our support site at /custcenter/home for it, and if not submit a request to Sony Creative Software Customer Service via that support site.
Are you going to share my contact information with other companies?
Your contact information may be shared with business partners if you leave the Please notify me of other products and events from Sony Creative Software partners check box selected. This option is found at the bottom of the main registration and online store forms.
