Picture Me, a raw and personal video diary, charts model Sara Ziff's rise from fresh face to one that adorns billboards and magazines around the world. Ziff and filmmaker, Ole Schell, co-direct the documentary, which lifts the veil on the glamorous world of high fashion modeling from photo shoots with celebrated photographers to runway shows in New York, Milan, and Paris. Ole edited Picture Me in Vegas Pro, and couldn't be happier with its performance. He writes: "We initially were drawn to Vegas Pro because, at that time, Final Cut Pro couldn't handle all the different codecs we were using. We had a real mish mash of backstage HDV stuff, runway footage in HD and then loads of archival SD tapes. "Sony Vegas Pro handled it seamlessly. We also were drawn to the workflow and smooth ergonomics of the program. "In Final Cut or Avid the program and the cursor are constantly stopping, either to render or because you made an edit or clicked almost anywhere. It's so annoying. In Vegas Pro you can edit on the fly without the cursor ever stopping in the timeline. You can loop an area of the timeline and edit it as the cursor moves until you get it right. There is no annoying rendering or starting and stopping. If you get into a groove you can go for days. "We now love Vegas Pro because of its ability to handle raw RED® R3D™ files. With so many people shooting features and commercials on the RED® now, this is an important feature. While we edit raw 4k files in our Vegas Pro timeline, Final Cut guys are forced to transcode to Apple pro-res at only 2k. Since FCP can only handle 2k and requires transcoding, Vegas Pro has a real opportunity to grow quickly and expand its market with RED® users." The winner of Best Picture and Best Fashion Film at the Milan International Film Festival, "Picture Me" is set to open in domestic theaters on September 17 at the Angelika in New York and on September 24 at the Sunset 5 in Los Angeles. It then opens in Australia and New Zealand Sept 30, France on October 20 and other European and Asian countries to follow. And yes, I did go with the corny pun for the title of this article; I couldn't help myself! But there's absolutely nothing corny about the version 10 upgrade to Vegas Pro software that we announced a few days ago at the IBC show in Amsterdam. In this article we'll take a look at some of the most significant new features and feature enhancements that Vegas Pro 10 software offers. The big news is, of course, Vegas Pro 10 software's powerful 3D capabilities. With this upgrade you can now edit stereoscopic 3D projects without any add-ons or additional tools. And in the tradition of Vegas Pro software, the workflow is intuitive and easy to learn. By default, the application starts in the traditional 2D editing mode the same as it always has. When you start a 3D editing project, you need to let the application know that you'll be working in 3D. You'll do this on the Video tab of the Project Properties dialog box, shown in Figure 1.
